Some parts found

The project continues, quietly, in the background for now.

In September of 2020, I plucked up some courage and went to look through the boxes of parts (and spiders) in the shed looking for parts I need.

I was specifically looking for carburettors, an oil pump for a 250, (the 250 oil pump having a Red splotch of paint rather than the yellow of the 350), and a front brake system, requiring both master cylinder and standard right hand caliper. the donor bike had the far superior Lockheed caliper fitted, but that is a) not original fitment, and b) seized solid, requiring a complete rebuild.

I found carburettors, but the LC250 pair I found had most parts missing, and the others were older RD parts, and a pair of YPVS carbs which will be sold to help fund the build.

I also found 5 oil pumps, 3 with the yellow dot, and 2 with the red dot.

I ought to be able to make one working one out of that lot!

I also turned up a couple of nests of wiring looms, 2 brake calipers… neither of which are LC250/350, a bag full of LC250 engine gaskets, some new rear brake shoes, 3 sets of switchgear in varying degrees of decay, an oil tank, and an ignition switch with a working key.

…but no brake components…

Every so often I’ll go onto eBay and look for some parts i know will be needed.

Over the past few months I have picked up…
A Brake Caliper
A master cylinder
A pair of 4L1 carburettors

The carbs have mismatched tops, but I ought to be able to mix and match some parts in the spares bin to make them a matching pair, with jets and needles suitable for a 250.
The master cylinder has the “Nissin” casting, and appears to be genuine. I can’t take credit for the condition. It was rebuilt and sprayed by the ebay vendor.
The caliper is a mess but was a third the price of others on offer in better condition. It is also an actual RD250LC caliper rather than the very similar XJ750 caliper which has a threaded hole to fit a plastic shroud.
