Front Brake caliper – Dismantle

It’s time to start looking at the front brake caliper I bought from ebay.

The Piston was scared and scored, looking like someone had attempted to remove it with a pair of mole grips. I had no confidence that the seals would be intact, so a rebuild kit was procured.
First task is to remove the old piston. I didn’t use mole grips. Rather i rigged up the hydraulics on the bench, and used brake fluid to push it out.

…and out she pops.

Next will be to remove all of the blistered old paint from the caliper body (using Nitromors), and repaint using High Temperature Matt Black.
After the paint has cured I’ll rebuild using new seals and piston.
