{"id":223,"date":"2021-03-10T18:00:20","date_gmt":"2021-03-10T18:00:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.alphabeta.me.uk\/blog\/?p=223"},"modified":"2021-03-11T14:59:38","modified_gmt":"2021-03-11T14:59:38","slug":"pottering-about-more-carb-parts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alphabeta.me.uk\/blog\/index.php\/2021\/03\/10\/pottering-about-more-carb-parts\/","title":{"rendered":"Pottering about &#8211; more carb parts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>After attempting to pull the fork leg apart, and failing, I needed another quick look for the fork springs missing from the spare legs i found last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A further hour in the shed revealed no hidden springs, and a quick investigation into the viability of RD400 springs and XS500 springs yielded no positive results&#8230; (Too short and too wide respectively)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was time to look under the workbench!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This was a task I had been avoiding, as the space under the workbench has been filled for the last 10 years with &#8220;Projects&#8221;. i.e. Broken things that I will one day get around to repairing. But needs must, so 3 hours of backbreaking (for a 60 year old), work, moving a KTM LC4 engine, an RD350LC engine, and multiple wheels around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the clear-out process, I found&#8230; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>An old leather jacket<\/li><li>4 million dead woodlice<\/li><li>What appears to be a Kawasaki H2 speedo<\/li><li>A KTM  Duke2 rear subframe (needs welding)<\/li><li>Yamaha RD350LC footrest holder (Needs welding)<\/li><li>350LC engine casing, (Needs welding)<\/li><li>KTM Duke2 exhaust silencers (Needs welding)<\/li><li>A box of assorted X7 spares<\/li><li>A box of assorted RD400 spares<\/li><li>A pair of 350LC carbs in somewhat poor condition<\/li><li>&#8230;more dead woodlice<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8230;but no fork springs of any description.<br>Clearly I was going to have professional cleaning if they are to be of any use other than spares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having pottered for a while, I supposed I should progress the Elsie rebuild a bit, so I cleaned up the brake torque
