Linux - Terms of Reference.
Background
With support for my prefered Acorn computing platform, increasingly
looking like it will dissapear soon, and my Acorn RiscPC showing signs
of its age in instability, I considered it time to explore other options
available to me.
MS Windows of any flavour is clearly not acceptable, otherwise I would
already be using it along with all of the other satisfied customers.
Linux seemed to be getting a great deal of publicity and has a large
number of advocates on usenet. It is also to all intents and purposes
'free'.
Objectives
There are a number of objectives in this odysey.
- To check the claims of those who say that Linux, (Particularly Red Hat),
can be installed as easily as Windows 95.
-
- To check availability of major applications and their stability and
suitability compared with Acorn equivalents.
